The symbolism of the severed head spans through art history with varied meaning encompassing, spirituality, war and mythology. Gruesome and too dark a subject for some, evoking mystery and intrigue for others.

The Ambiguous Oracle is a self portrait. To mark my thirty fifth birthday I wanted to express something so personal that I felt I couldn't for so long. My experience of painting usually allows me the comfort of leaving a lot to go unsaid.

I painted the person I want to be, the person who has all the answers.

In many ways this deity version that stared back at me, challenged me to realise the prophecy hiding deep within me was inevitably revealing itself.

This self portrait symbolises knowing and learning from the past and fearlessly being open to a future of complete change and uncertainty. There is strength in being vulnerable and honest with yourself and so much to be learned for living your truth and finding your voice.
